“I want to start off with a message of gratitude to the leadership of York Region Police working with both of our publicly funded school boards as we really focus on crime prevention through education.
With the rise of violence across our country, working with community-based police officers at YRP will provide our young people with the tools and confidence to prevent victimization online, in our communities and in the classroom. That's what today's about: prevention, safety and education. And so I want to thank everyone, because this builds on our government's actions to protect our children, working with law enforcement. We are the first government to introduce a province-wide anti bullying protocol, mandatory learning on the perils of marijuana and drugs within our curriculum, and the first government in Canada to introduce anti sex trafficking protocol for every school. We are leading the way, but we know there is more to do to keep our schools safe. Parents in King and Vaughan have urged all of us to work together to restore safety, and that is exactly what we have done, as we move forward with this plan to improve school safety. Thank you to all of the partners involved, for your leadership and collaboration, and for working with community and government to keep our kids safe.”
