On May 18th, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King-Vaughan and Minister of Education, joined fellow MPPs Raymond Cho, Vijay Thanigasalam, Logan Kanapathi, and Aris Babikian as well as a members of the GTA Tamil community for a Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day ceremony hosted by the National Council of Canadian Tamils in Scarborough.
“It was an honour for me to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Mullivaikkal Massacre alongside Tamil families and students who continue to heal from intergenerational trauma,” said MPP Lecce. “Educating our young people about the Tamil genocide is a critical step in remembering their stories, while always promoting fundamental Canadian values of democracy, freedom and human rights. Proud to serve with Logan and Vijay, Canada’s first Tamil ever elected in provincial legislative history.”
