NEWS RELEASE: MPP Lecce Delivers Net-New Police Station To Protect Kleinburg, Nobleton Communities

Stephen Lecce, MPP

VAUGHAN—Today, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan, was joined by Members of Vaughan City Council and members of the York Regional Police to announce the official opening of a brand-new YRP station that will meaningfully improve response times in Kleinburg, North Woodbridge, Purpleville, and Nobleton. The new station is located at 10418 Islington Ave., Kleinburg.

“Our message to the repeat violent criminals that steal your car or break into your home is crystal clear: your time is up," said Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan. "Proud to open a net-new police station in the heart of Kleinburg that will deploy much-needed officers to our community and put more boots-on-the-ground to stop crime in the west side of Vaughan, Nobleton, and beyond. We will not stop until we put an end to the revolving door of justice — and until our families feel safe in their homes. Thanks to Mayor Del Duca, Deputy Mayor Jackson, and Chief MacSween for your partnership and leadership."

This is the first YRP substation in Vaughan’s west end. The City retrofitted the existing property to meet YRP’s operational requirements. Members of the community can interact with police officers, file reports, receive crime prevention information and ask questions at this 3,600-square-foot facility. It will operate similarly to the substation in the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre that opened in September 2024.

“Today marks a significant milestone as we officially open the newest York Regional Police substation in Vaughan,” said Steven Del Duca, Mayor of Vaughan. “We want our residents to feel safe, and that’s why I’m happy that the York Regional Police has partnered with the City on this one of a kind project. We need bail reform to keep criminals off the streets and behind bars where they belong. I want to thank Chief MacSween and our partners at YRP for their continued commitment to working with us to keep our residents safe in our community.”

In September 2024, Mayor Del Duca gave a deputation at York Region Council expressing his strong support for additional funding for YRP. The 2025 budget for YRP, approved on Nov. 28, includes a 7.7 per cent increase from 2024 and will lead directly to the hiring of 154 additional YRP staff in 2025 and 150 in 2026.
